Choose your route based on the amount of sunlight: there are two paths to choose from, one in the sun and the other in the shade.
Pedestrian navigation for your sun exposure.
MeridianWay calculates two walking routes between a starting point and a destination. The goal isn't the fastest path, it's the one that maximises or minimises your exposure to the sun.
The app analyses the sun's exact position at the chosen time and the shadows cast by surrounding buildings, using open data from OpenStreetMap.
The results are suggestions, not precise instructions. Building heights in OpenStreetMap are partial but regularly updated by the community: some shaded areas may go undetected, and certain routes are actually shadier than shown.
In winter, soak up the warmth of the sun. In summer, stay cool in the shade.

MeridianWay's code is freely available. Anyone can read it, modify it, or contribute to the project. Map data is provided by OpenStreetMap and its community: if this project is useful to you, consider supporting the OSM foundation. For routes within Switzerland, building heights come from the swissBUILDINGS3D 3.0 dataset by the Swiss Federal Office of Topography (swisstopo).🌙 It's night at that time, sun exposure doesn't apply; here's the shortest route.
